The missing employee with Shenzhen-based Huawei Technologies who was aboard last Saturday's fatal Kenya Airways flight was confirmed dead Wednesday.
The family of the victim, Liu Sheng, will receive insurance compensation of at least 1 million yuan (US$129,800).
"Rescuers found Liu's wallet and mobile phone at the wreckage site yesterday (Tuesday), in a swamp southeast of Douala airport, Cameroon, and the company is helping Liu's relatives proceed with passport and visa and other procedures," Huawei said in an announcement.
Although Kenya authorities claimed no one survived the crash, the company had insisted Liu was "missing" prior to Wednesday, saying there was still hope since Liu's body had not yet been found.
Liu, a Jiangsu native, was the company's marketing manager in South Africa and Cameroon. He was on a business trip when the Boeing 737-800 crashed 30 seconds after takeoff Saturday. The crash killed all 114 people on board, including five Chinese.
Huawei has personal accident injury insurance for employees working overseas. At least 1 million yuan in compensation can be claimed if an employee dies in an accident while on duty, according to a Huawei spokesperson.
Huawei, a Chinese telecoms giant, has more than 100 branch offices around the world.
