China's oldest electronics fair will be held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center (CEC) from tomorrow to Saturday.

The 69th China Electronics Fair (CEF) and the 21st Telecom Expo China, which will be held simultaneously, are expected to attract 1,700 exhibitors and 60,000 buyers, organizers told a press conference yesterday.

The CEF will feature a wide range of electronics products and technologies, said Chen Wenhai, general manager of China Electronic Exhibition & Information Communication Co. Ltd.

The Telecom Expo China, meanwhile, will showcase 3G, Bluetooth, IPTV and other new communications technologies. Shenzhen-made mobile phones will be on display at a special zone in the fair. The city produced more than 100 million mobile phones last year.

Companies from Guangdong, well known as an electronics base in China, have booked nearly half of the booths at the fair with Shenzhen manufacturers booking a quarter, said Chen.

Guangdong's electronics and information technology industry produced a total output of 827.2 billion yuan (US$106 billion) in the first nine months of 2006, up 23.5 percent from a year before, official figures show.

Since its debut in 1964, CEF has become one of the most influential and biggest electronics fairs in China.
