Huangpu District, the eastern part of Guangzhou, officially launched a project to establishment a national model that provides traditional Chinese medical services in community health centers.

Nine community health centers will be established before this June, said Jin Yijun, Director General of the Huangpu District Health Bureau. In addition a traditional Chinese Medical Instruction Center in the community, a traditional Chinese Medical training center and a Chinese Medicine delivery center will be set up by the Huangpu District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Chinese medical services will be available in 60% of the Huangpu District's community health centers.

A Community Health Service Information System has begun trial operation in Huangpu District. Residents will be able to search the nearest Community Health Centers and their services through the Internet. Renowned Chinese medical practitioners will give online consultation services to residents and patients.

If the proposal on the establishment of a national model district is approved, Huangpu district will, after the Liwan District, be the second district of Guangzhou that provides traditional Chinese medical services in community health centers.
