Migrant workers in Shenzhen who take training courses will each receive a subsidy of up to 800 yuan, yesterday's Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.
Some 156,000 migrant workers are eligible for the subsidy, the report said, quoting an interim regulation jointly issued by the municipal finance bureau and labor and social security bureau recently. The report didn't say where the money will come from.
Eligible migrants will each get 100 to 800 yuan based on the level of technical training they undergo, according to the regulation. They must be from rural areas, have signed a one-year labor contract with their Shenzhen employer and hold a social security card issued by Shenzhen authorities.
Migrants seeking the subsidy will have to apply through their employer, a vocational training institutions or a sponsor of a vocational skills contest.
