The Zhujiang New City Passenger Automatic Transportation System will start full construction this year and is expected to be completed before 2010. By then, this driverless super "Underground Bus" will be shuttling under Guangzhou's Central Axis, along the line are the city landmarks of Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Provincial Museum, Guangzhou Library, NO. 2 Children's Palace, Guangzhou TV & Sightseeing Tower and Twin Towers. Guangzhou will be the first city to use this kind of new city public transportation system in China.

The Zhujiang New City Passenger Automatic Transportation System totals 3.88 kilometers, setting up 9 stations of Chigang, Haixinsha, Guangzhou Opera House, Twin Towers, Central Plaza, Civic Plaza, No. 1 Tianhe Road S., Sports Center, Linhe Road W. And passengers can transfer to Metro Line 1, 3 and 5 at Chigang, Zhujiang New City, No. 1 Tianhe Road S., and Linhe Road W stations, all within 300 meters' walk.
