On March 4, 2007, Guangzhou's first barrier free GPS bus will do a test run on Route 102. At the beginning of May, another 50 barrier free buses will be produced.

This kind of bus is a new type developed by Guangzhou, which will become the model for Guangzhou buses and is called "the most comfortable domestic bus" by industry experts.

The bus adopts advanced low-floor technology. The back door has a power wheelchair passage, and the bus is convenient for wheelchairs throughout. There is also a special rack behind the driver's seat for large baggage.

The Bus Company also installed a GPS system on Route 102, which can make vehicle scheduling more rapid. Also, if a bus is not working, the company will be informed and can perform repairs immediately. In addition, the geographic information from the GPS system can be used for bus stop reporter. And the GPS information platform can broadcast freely the bus schedules, station transfer information, weather broadcasts and so on.

The construction of the Guangzhou City Centre public transportation GPS system was made possible by a World Bank loan. It is expected that most of Guangzhou's new buses will be operating by the end of this year. The electronic bus stop boards are also under construction, which will enable passengers to know how many bus stops are expected.

The new bus is also equipped with magazines about Guangzhou's history and culture, current affairs, fashion, public transportation, scenic spots, health, etc. The "Guangzhou's History" column condenses the history of Guangzhou's buses. Passengers can learn about Guangzhou's public transportation in different ages through the old yellowed photos in the magazine.
