Fed up with the uncivilized behavior during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, Guangzhou city residents in south China have called on the local government to severely punish bad mannered people.

Information Times reports many Spring Festival visitors allowed their children to use the city streets as a toilet. One mother allowed her child to pee on a busy street on Saturday, the last day of the holiday, even though there was a toilet less than 20 meters away.

It also quoted a cleaner who said he had to clean children's excrement off the streets as often as 20 times a day.

In other parts of the city, locals found it difficult to pass through the streets due to people resting all over the place and youngsters skating at high speeds.

Some visitors even turned the city's open-air square in to their own personal dining hall, picnicking on cooked food in the public space and littering the ground with the packages.

Newspaper stall and book shop proprietors also suffered from bad-mannered people who tore the wrappers off magazines and read the contents without buying them. Bookstore visitors ignored the signs asking them to rest only in designated areas and sat on in the stairwell.

A list of the top ten uncivilized behavior common to the people who visited the local scenic spot of Baiyun Mountain was even compiled. Climbing trees and picking flowers were on the list.
