Eight people died following a factory fire on Sunday in the booming Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province, confirmed local authorities.
The fire broke out at about 2:15 p.m. in a four-story building of the Yanghua High-tech Factory that produces electronic components.
Rescuers put off the fire an hour later, recovering eight bodies in the debris, who died from suffocation.
A total of 235 workers were evacuated and another ten were rescued.
The rescued ten were rushed to hospital, among whom one was in serious condition but without life danger, according to local sources.
As many workers were working overtime in the factory on weekends, it is unknown how many were in the building when the blaze occurred.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
