"It's fast and smooth," said a driver driving on the highway to the airport on the first day of its opening.

The reporter found that there were 150 vehicles entering the highway within one hour and 70% of them were heavy trucks. After connecting to Jingzhu highway, the airport highway is now crowded with many overloaded trucks. To control the overloaded vehicles will be a big challenge in the future.

The Beizhan tollgate of the airport highway was opened at 8:00am February 1, half an hour earlier than the scheduled time.

At the highest speed of 120 kilometers, it only takes about 40 minute from the Sanyuanli Entrance via Jiebei to Conghua Road. RMB 35 is charged per car.

From 8 am to 9 am, about 70% of the vehicles on the airport highway were trucks. By noon, 479 vehicles passed through the Beizhan tollgate.

After the completion of the extended north section, the total length of the airport highway reaches 50.47 kilometers. Two gas stations are to be built this year.

Every day there are about 6,000 vehicles entering Guangdong province through Jingzhu highway, among which, 85% are trucks. It is predicted that more heavy trucks will be running on the airport highway through the Beixing interchange, which is to be completed soon. On the first day of the opening of the airport highway, the number of trucks increased 15%.

"How to control overloaded vehicles is a big problem for us." said Shi Yongcan, General Manager of the Airport Highway Operation & Management Company. A variety of measures will be taken to prevent overloaded and dangerous vehicles from entering the highway.
