According to a national conference on health yesterday (Jan. 24), Guangdong has achieved dramatic results in its establishment of a Health Emergency Response System.
21 cities have set up an emergency response office and the total number of people involved is over 2,534. Beginning 2004, the annual fund for the health emergency response project in Guangdong is 5 million RMB, including funds for disinfectant, serum, medicine, protection equipment and other facilities.
For further precautions in lieu of bird flu, the storage of the bird flu medicine Tamiflu reached 10,000 units.
