According to the transportation conference held in Guangzhou yesterday morning (Jan 7), Guangdong plans to invest 48.5 billion yuan in perfecting the traffic system this year.
The investment includes 33 billion yuan for road construction and 14.7 billion yuan for port and sea-route construction. The province will build new highway totaling 600 kilometers this year. The province invested 46.2 billion yuan in transportation infrastructure on the roads and sea transportation last year, up 13.45 percent compared with 2005.
The input of port construction grew dramatically at about 70 percent. The province built 200-kilometre highway last year. With the provincial highway network of 3,340 kilometers, the province is maintaining the lead in China.
