Guangzhou succeeded in its bid for hosting the 2010 Asian Games for the Disabled!
On November 24, a governmental bid team, led by Guangzhou Vice Mayor Su Zequn, flew to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the bidding of the 2010 Asian Games for the Disabled. On the afternoon of November 28, Guangzhou delegation made a speech to the Asian Paralympic Council (APC). At about 3:00pm, the APC chairman declared Guangzhou the host of the 2010 Asian Games for the Disabled.
Guangzhou will be the first city to host both the Asian Games and Asian Games for the Disabled in the same year. The competition events will be set by referring to those in the FESPIC Games (Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled), and some adjustments will be made according to the characteristics of sports for the disabled in Asia and APC's opinions.
