95.3% GZ residents satisfied with gov't services

In September 2006, the Guangzhou Community Affairs and Public Opinion Research Center conducted a follow-up poll of citizens' satisfaction with government services. The poll is the fifth one since 2002.

The number of government service institutions covered in the poll has risen from nine in 2002 to 20 this year as the government is providing a widening range of services for local citizens.

Pollsters from the research center interviewed a total of 1,738 people who had come to the government institutions for various services. 68.9% and 31.1% of the respondents had come for corporate and private business, respectively.

The poll shows that the public rating of Guangzhou's government services have risen steadily in the recent five years. Since 2004, local people have been giving high ratings to government services. Fifteen government service institutions have a citizen satisfaction rate of more than 90%.

The poll also reveals that this year more than 95% of the respondents were positive about the overall government services, with 95.3% satisfied and only 4.7% dissatisfied.

The satisfaction rate has gone up 28.3 percentage points over the recent five years, and the satisfaction rate has exceeded 92% in the recent three years.
