It is a tradition for local people to climb onto the Baiyun Mountain in the evening before the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (October 30, 2006, Monday), the Chongyang Festival of China. In the recent five years, the average number of climbers on Chongyang Festival is 250 thousand people, and the highest number is 337 thousand.

For the safety of the climbers, this year Guangzhou municipal government established a command center led by Secretary general Chen Guo. Moreover, 10,000 personnel will be responsible for fire fighting, cleaning and first aid; 13 ambulances, 12 fire engines and 60 water-sprinkling vehicles are also ready for the event. 

From noon October 29 to 3am October 31, for entering Baiyun Mountain, the full-price ticket is RMB 10 /person and the half-price ticket is 5/person; for entering Moxing Ling Hill, the full-price ticket is RMB 10/ person and the half-price ticket is RMB 5/person; for going up the mountain, the full-price cableway ticket is RMB 30/person and the half-price ticket is RMB 15/person (both including the fee for entering the Baiyun mountain); for going down the mountain, the full-price cableway ticket is RMB 20/person and the half-price ticket is RMB 10/person.
