Phase three of Guangzhou's Liede sewage treatment factory and the first phase of the Dashadi sewage treatment factory formally started operation yesterday (September 26).

Guangzhou can now treat 400,000 tons more waste water each day, for a total of over 1.9 million tons per day. Dashadi factory is the first sewage treatment plant in Huangpu district, and will help substantially reduce the pollutants discharged to Pearl River. In order to prevent odors from spreading to nearby residential communities, roofs will be built to cover the treatment pools. In addition, the recycled water will be used for plant irrigation, cleaning and production, while the waste residue will be used to make bricks.
