Guangzhou Railway Station started selling tickets from Guangzhou to Lhasa on Saturday. At 8:28 in the morning, the station sold the first ever Guangzhou-Lhasa ticket. Three counters in the east of the ticket hall will be dedicated to the Guangzhou-Lhasa line.
Before each purchase, railway staff are giving passengers a high altitude tour notice suggesting certain patients shouldn't go to Lhasa, As well as a health registration card.
According to the ticket office, most ticket buyers are young people who plan to go traveling. Officials said the Guangzhou-Lhasa railway has a total of 863 seats. Guangzhou Railway Station will sell 478 tickets and the rest will be sold at other stations along the line.
