Fifty-six Japanese tourists visited the Yao Hua Community of Li Wan District this afternoon, marking the beginning of Xi Guan's Folk-custom Tourism.

As the first tourists, most of who are aged between 60 and 70, they hope to experience the original South China Culture. Before visiting the Yao Hua Community, they tasted typical Xi Guan delicacies in the Pan Xi restaurant beside Li Wan Lake.

Liang Dong, Vice Director of the Li Wan Tourism Bureau, said that after developing the tourism resources presented by the Yao Hua Community located in Feng Yuan Street, their next target will be the Chang Hua Community composed of two streets with many ancient buildings: Long Jin Xi Lu and En Ning Lu, which will become a tourist route, where tourists can enjoy folk-customs and buy handicraft items. All locations offering service will be marked on a tourist map, that will make it more convenient for independent foreign tourists to find and interact with local residents who will prepare home-style food and teach them some Cantonese.

It's reported that tourists from America and Europe show interest in this type of tourism. Leaders of the Li Wan Tourism Bureau expect to further develop this tourist route through market operation, with the old Xi Guan Community becoming the key component in Xi Guan Folk-custom Tourism.
