Zhongshan might be the neighborhood where you consider buying your next lottery ticket. In the first eight months this year, Zhongshan Welfare Lottery Issuance Centre and Sports Lottery Administration Centre handed in individual income tax of 13.66 million yuan on behalf of lottery winners.
And in August, Zhongshan Welfare Lottery handed in individual income tax of 8.12 million yuan for lottery winners. In July, a welfare lottery ticket buyer was the sole winner of 31.72 million yuan and paid 6.34 million yuan for individual income tax. This is the biggest tax that Zhongshan lottery has ever deducted from prize money.
