Beginning today (Sept. 1), Guangzhou will conduct a "National-3 emission standard" for new cars, which is equivalent to the Euro-3. This act is aimed to control the air pollution caused by car emissions.
Cars adhering to the National-3 standard are much more environmentally-friendly because they discharge 50% less pollutants than the national-two cars.
Guangzhou is the 2nd city in China to implement the new rule, one year after Beijing.
