The yearly sales revenue of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Guangdong reached over 8.9 billion yuan in 2005, according to a conference on Hong Kong-Guangdong TCM business opportunities held yesterday.
This number accounts for over 8% of the national total, the highest in China. Liu Xiaojie, Deputy Chief Director of the economic and trade commission of Guangdong province, said that there were 107 TCM manufacturers in Guangdong in 2005.
These manufacturers bring about 900 million yuan sales profit, accounting for 8.7% of the whole state. Liu believes that Guangdong has now become a major TCM production and sales region.
