Yesterday, Guangzhou released a list of 80 torch carriers for the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
On the list, we find familiar names: Zhong Nanshan, director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases, Yang Jinghui, Olympic champion diver and Dong Zhaozhi, foil world champion. Richard Hausmann, president and CEO of Siemens Ltd., China, is the only expat on the list.
The oldest torch carrier is Zhong Nanshan, aged 69. And the youngest is Chen Jielv, 13, who is chosen randomly by computer.
The Doha torch will start its tour on Oct 8 in Qatar and involves 20 cites of 13 countries and 3500 torch carriers. The Asiad flame will arrive Guangzhou in Oct 24.
