Huang Huahua, governor of South China's Guangdong Province, and Donald Tsang, his counterpart from Hong Kong, co-chairing the Ninth Plenary of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Cooperation Joint Conference in Guangzhou yesterday (Aug.2).
The two sides agreed that with the 11th National Five-year Plan coming into effect this year, they would intensify cooperation on several fronts to tie in with the future development of the South China province and seize the opportunities thus created.

South China's Guangdong Province and Hong Kong are planning to co-operate on cross-border emissions trading, according to the Guangdong Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau.
An effort by both sides to clean up the skies above the Pearl River Delta region, the trading scheme is high on agenda to be discussed at the ninth Guangdong-Hong Kong Co-operation Joint Conference, which opens today in Guangzhou, capital of the province.
