Since Guangzhou announced a series of preferential policies for the financial industry in March, many domestic and overseas financial companies have come to review the location and some of them are planning to expand into Guangzhou.

The latest 11th five-year plan for financial industry even put forwards that Guangzhou will develop into a regional financial centre in the next five years. The 11th five-year financial scheme depicts the city's developing blueprint.

By 2010, Guangzhou will become the regional financial hub in South China connecting Hong Kong and Macao and serving Southeast Asia. By 2020, Guangzhou will become a financial hub with international influence, complementarily to Hong Kong's financial status.
