Yesterday (July 31), Guangdong Environmental Protection Bureau indicated that the province have greeted great accomplishment in environment protection during the tenth five-year plan.

Major environmental destruction had been alleviated and the environment quality has been steady and even better in some areas.

Also, Guangdong had 88 municipal wastewater treatment plants built by the end of June this year. It gives the province a wastewater treatment capacity of nearly 6.7 million tons per day, topping all provinces in the nation.

Over the last couple of years, Guangdong province has invested big to protect environment. Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and four other cities has been awarded the title of "National Model City for Environmental Protection".
