In the "Earthquake Trial Zone", stomping to one advanced seismograph (The round transparency in the picture) will return the relevant energy and time calculated through transmission.
July 28th marks the 30th anniversary of Tangshan Earthquake. In order to make more people get to know earthquake and guard against the disasters caused by it, the "Earthquake Science Popularization Hall", the first thematic hall for earthquake education in Guangdong Province, sponsored by Guangdong Provincial Seismological Bureau, will be open to the public starting from July 28th.
At the same time, Guangzhou's first earthquake shelter was completed in Xiaogang Park, passed the check before acceptance on July 27th and will hold its first earthquake emergency exercise on "the 30th Anniversary of Tangshan Earthquake".
And the first "Protecting Against and Mitigating Earthquake Disasters Open-day" also came off in Guangdong Provincial Seismological Bureau. Visitors may see many mysterious earthquakes detecting equipment and experience the "Earthquake Trial Zone" via body bouncing to see the energy and time calculated by the wave transmission through the seismograph. The visiting area is at the Guangdong Earthquake Monitoring Network Center on the 8th floor.
Mr. Lianggan, Vice Director of Guangdong Provincial Seismological Bureau, said, "We hope that the exhibition can make more people get over their numbness and fear towards earthquakes".
It is learned that Guangdong is situated in the middle of the earthquake belt in the south-east seashore district. So far, there were 54 devastating earthquakes since 1067, among which 13 earthquakes were strong devastating earthquakes measuring over 6 on the Richter scale.
The relevant principal released that so far the Guangdong Earthquake Monitoring Network Center includes 6 remote detecting networks and 38 seismic stations. The Guangzhou Benchmark Seismic Station was built in 1953, whose monitoring system covers earthquake detecting, lithosphere deformation, geomagnetism, underground liquid and seismic information network, bearing the responsibility of the data exchange of international geomagnetism monitoring and quick reporting of large earthquakes at home.
