Typhoon Kaemi has claimed the lives of at least four in Guangdong since it landed Tuesday afternoon (July 25). Reports say that more than 30,000 Guangdong residents had to be relocated.
The system weakened into a tropical storm on Tuesday night and into a tropical depression yesterday morning. However, it still drenched Guangdong Province, hitting the eastern and northern parts of the province with heavy rainstorms.
From 2 pm Tuesday to 2 pm yesterday, 120 rain gauging stations in the province recorded precipitation rain fall of over 100 millimetres and 11 stations recorded over 200 millimetres.
Among them, the Sandushui Station in Wuhua County recorded a high of 281 millimetres. Until tomorrow, most of the province will continue to be lashed by heavy rains and thus potential floods, mud-flows and other land disasters may occur in some areas.
