Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, said that the economy of Guangdong Province saw a rapid and rational development in the first half of this year.
In Jan-Jun, 2006, the GDP of Guangdong Province hit 1156.532 billion RMB, up 14.4 percent year on year. The value added of large industries reached 486.78 billion RMB, with an increase of 18.5 compared with the same time of last year. Meanwhile, the total investment in fixed assets reached 323.089 billion RMB, the export value reached 131.2 billion USD and the financial revenue reached 248.2 billion RMB, increasing by 20.5 percent, 28.3 percent, and 14.1 percent respectively.

Guangdong consumes 0.79 tons of standard coal to generate a million RMB of GDP, down from 1.52 tons in 2004, according to central government's latest statistics. The figure represents that Guangdong outdoes other provinces in limiting energy cost for GDP growth.
