The second Pearl River night view project is under construction and will be completed before July 18th according to Guangzhou Municipal Government, in time to greet Gotheborg's arrival in Guangzhou.

The project will illuminate the Pearl River using the latest lighting technology and is based on similar projects in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

A 36 km stretch of the Pearl River will take on a dynamic new look. Most dramatically, this will involve the eighty meter high New Century Trade Center Building near the south end of Renmin Bridge. The building will be transformed into a huge screen with alternating images of traditional Guangzhou culture.
