Shenzhen is bidding to host the 2011 Summer World University Games. The bidding team from Shenzhen submitted the application to the headquarters of the International University Sports Federation in Brussels, Wednesday (June 28, 2006).
Other cities bidding for the games include Canada's Edmonton, Poland's Poznan, Russia's Kazan, Spain's Murcia and Taiwan's Kaohsiung. The team that evaluates the cities will begin their inspections in October and November of this year. Voting will be held July 1, 2007.
