Politburo Member of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee Zhang Dejiang and Guangdong governor Huang Huahua met with Australia's Prime Minister John Howard in Shenzhen yesterday (June 29,2006).

Zhang stressed promoting economic and trade cooperation with Australia and strengthening bilateral friendships as well. Zhang said that the large Sino-Australian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project is a milestone for the economic ties between the two countries.

Guangdong will continue to push the natural gas project in Zhuhai which involves 350 tons of LNG imports from Australia. John Howard paid a visit to Shenzhen for the inauguration of the first LNG project between the two countries. Premier Wen Jiabao also participated in the ceremony yesterday.
