For the protection of international brands, the Industry and Commerce Administration of Guangzhou has issued a notice stipulating that, in Guangzhou, eleven famous international brands shall only be sold in designated shops and that goods of those brands for sale in non-designated stores will be regarded as fake products. 

The eleven brands concerned are Puma, Columbia, Louis Vuitton (LV), COACH, GUCCI, CHANEL, Tiffany, PRADA, MIUMIU, Burberry and NorthFace.

An Administration official said that fake products seriously undermine the benefits of trademark holders; and, that this official notice was issued at the request of some international trademark owners.
