China's first sports centre for the disabled, Guangzhou Disabled Person Olympic Sports Centre, opened yesterday (May 23) and the Chairman of China Disabled Persons' Federation Deng Pufang attended the celebration ceremony.
The Centre is located in the Baiyun District and covers an area of 44,000 square metres. It allows 300 athletes to train and 1,500 sportsmen to compete at the same time. With a total investment of 140 million yuan, the Centre is designed in accordance with the needs of disabled people and will be able to host the Paralympic Games.
