From April 28 to May 26, the Guangzhou Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau will launch a citywide campaign to help needy citizens, reduce poverty and develop social welfare and charity programs in Baise city in Guangxi and Meizhou, Conghua and Zengcheng cities in Guangdong. The Bureau will remain open throughout the May Day holidays.

The Bureau is calling upon each employee in party, government and military organizations and enterprises to donate RMB 20 and every local citizen to donate RMB 5-10. Clean quilts, blankets, clothes and household appliances which families can spare, are also requested. Donated materials should be packed in fiber bags and tightly banded, and the descriptions and quantities of the materials be marked on the bags.

Donations can be made between 8:30 AM and 5 PM every day (including Saturdays and Sundays) at the primary collection point - the cargo yard of the Guangzhou Eastern Railway Station (No. 1822, East Guangyuan Road) or at the nearest donation collection point in each district and county. Monetary donations can also be remitted to the account of the Guangzhou Social Donation Collection Work Station (bank: Duobao Office, Agricultural Bank of China; A/C No.: 043501040002350).
