Six koalas will come to settle down in Guangzhou today (April 27) and Guangzhou will become the first city to have koala in mainland. The koalas departed from Sydney at 6am Australian time and will arrive in Guangzhou Baiyun Airport at 6pm Beijing time.

Then they will go to their new home at Panyu Xiangjiang Animal Park to catch the welcome ceremony at 9 tonight. The Park has negotiated introducing koalas since 2002 and Australia finally agreed to give six koalas, three boys and three girls, to the Park as gift. After a two-month adaptation period, it is expected that the koalas will greet the public for the first time at the end of June before the summer holiday.
