Guangdong may encounter serious flood and typhoon disasters this year, according to a government meeting held on April 10 in Guangzhou.
Floods may occur at Beijiang River, the northern tributary of Pearl River in southern China, as more rain is expected to fall in this area. 3 to 5 typhoons are expected to strike Guangdong, posting threat to human and property security. Vice secretary of Guangdong CPC committee Ou Guangyuan called on related departments to be on high alert of the possible disaster and make good preparation for anti-disaster campaign.
