Guangzhou's Huangpu District Environmental Protection Bureau recently made adjustments to the penalty for violation against the environmental protection law. The act represents an effort to crack down on pollution in Huangpu district, in a more forceful way.
The breakdown is elaborated based on the relevant national penalty standards and might be the first one made in the country.
According to the bureau, the minimum penalty is $3,750 dollars. The amount will be increased and adjusted in terms of 8 coefficients, including the industry category, investment amount and the pollution level. The final penalty will be compiled by multiplying the minimum amount and the relevant coefficient category that the enterprise falls into. If the enterprise takes the initiative to cooperate with the bureau by eliminating pollution, the penalty will be reduced accordingly.
