The security staff at the Baiyun Airport found 10 pieces of fireworks within a black bag owned by a man who holds United States passport yesterday morning (March 26).
At about 11 am, when the security staff carried out the routine X ray check for the flight of CZ3109 that was heading to Beijing, they found something that looked like fireworks. After unpacking, the staff found 10 pieces of eight-centimeter strip-shape fireworks folded in a birthday card.
This kind of fireworks is specially designed for birthday cakes and can give off sparkling light when lit. The owner explained that Saturday was his 36th birthday and the fireworks were the presents from his friends. He claimed that he didn't know this kind of items could affect flight safety.
