New Guangzhou Library starts construction - Guangdong - News Brief

Guangzhou Cultural Bureau today (February 15) said the new Guangzhou Library will start the construction next month and open to public in 2008. With the investment of 840 million yuan, the new Library covers a construction area of 95,000 square metres, six times the old one on Zhongshan No.4 Road.

After the completion, it will be home to 4 million volumes of the books and can receive 10,000 readers per day. The new Library is located in Zhujiang New Town, neighbouring Guangzhou No.2 Children's Palace, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Opera House.
