The container throughput at the Yantian International, Chiwan and Shekou container terminals reached 240,000 TEU during the Spring Festival Golden Week holiday, up 23 percent from the same period of 2005.
A total of 378 ships were piloted into or out of the Shenzhen port during the golden week, of which 153 ships used the eastern piloting station and 225 ships using the western piloting station, a year-on-year increase of 18.5 percent, 19.5 percent and 17.8 percent respectively. Of the 280 container ships passing through the Shenzhen port, 52 of them were mega container ships with a water depth of over 300 meters.
