Some college graduates in Guangdong’s Dongguan City have signed up for extra training courses to meet the requirement of employers, the Yangcheng Evening News reported Tuesday.
Of the 630 students who recently registered for a training course in a Dongguan professional training school, over 20 percent had college degrees, with some from the nation’s top universities, the report said.
Though the fees for the training courses, which range from three to 10 months in duration, totaled several thousand yuan, the number of college students signing up was increasing. Many graduates explained they took such training courses to acquire an edge over their counterparts.
In addition, Dongguan was now in need of instructors for such courses.
For example, the monthly salary for a module technician is about 3,000 yuan (US$361), the monthly income for a digital control processing technician is 3,500 yuan, while those who are skilled at the whole process of design, processing and typing can earn as much as 5,000 yuan. Some can even make over 10,000 yuan a month.
In comparison, fresh college graduates earn about 1,500 yuan. This is why some attended technical courses to boost their prospects.
