Tianhe, the district clustering many big multinational companies' offices, is planning to build 8 five-star hotels in the coming 5 years. The investor includes international big labels, such as Ritz-Carlton, Grand Hyatt and Holiday Inn. For some projects, construction has begun.
This move is one of the district's efforts to develop its modern service industry and to prepare itself for the 2010 Asian Games.
Data shows that Guangzhou now has 6 five-star hotels, 24 four-star and 89 three star ones. And by 2010 when the Asian Games is held in the city, Guangzhou will have 300 star-rated hotels
