Cameras and emergency communication systems will be installed on all trains on Guangzhou's Metro Line 4 to deal with acts of terrorists, the Yangcheng Evening News reported.
The first train for Metro Line 4 was completed over the weekend in Qingdao City in East China's Shandong Province.
Each carriage of the train is installed with two cameras, which can monitor the whole carriage. The train is the first one in China to have cameras.
The train is also the first in China with emergency communication systems between passengers and the driver.
Passengers can talk to the driver by simply pressing a button in case of emergency. The buttons are installed near doors. The train can also operate without a driver.
The Metro company also plans to install the cameras and the emergency systems on Metro Line 3 trains.
The equipment will cost nearly 300,000 yuan (US$36,991) per train.
Metro Line 4 runs through Tianhe, Haizhu and Panyu districts. It has 27 stations, including 14 elevated ones.
Two new trains will start operating next month at the University Town section of Metro Line 4, with trial runs set to begin Dec. 26.
