According to insiders at the Shenzhen Airport, a Dongguan service platform will be built in the airport. The service platform includes adding direct buses to towns and counties in Dongguan, building cooperation facilities with Dongguan's industry zones and other services.

Dongguan's city center is located 40 km from the Shenzhen Airport, and it is the primary airport for the city. In 2004, over 1.7 million Dongguan passengers passed through Shenzhen Airport, accounting for 12% of the total traffic at the Shenzhen Airport.

Shenzhen Airport authorities said the airport will not only improve facilities, but management as well to support Dongguan.
