Latest Updated by 2005-08-16 18:15:12

600 boxes of Taiwan star fruit reached Beijiao harbor in Foshan city's Shunde district yesterday afternoon (August 15). The 4,200 kilograms of fruit was the first batch of Taiwanese tariff-free fruit to enter Guangzhou and is valued at over 3,000 US dollars.

In addition, the Foshan customs office sped up the customs procedure enabling the fruit to pass through the inspection in just 10 minutes. According to statistics from the customs office, in the first half of this year, more than 1,200 tons of Taiwan fruit, including star fruit, mangos, betel nuts, grapefruits and oranges, worth nearly a million US dollars were imported to China via Guangdong ports.
