Guangzhou plans to attract more overseas financial institutions

Guangzhou vice Mayor Shen Bonian visited top financial institutions in Hong Kong in the context of Guangzhou's move to develop its financial industry.

Shen said Guangzhou will soon introduce a series of measures to lure domestic and overseas financial institutions to the city. Under the CEPA agreement, Guangzhou will also work more closely with financial institutions in Hong Kong.

The Guangzhou government hopes more overseas investors will invest in Guangzhou through the influence of Hong Kong as an international financial center. So far, 7 Guangzhou enterprises are listed on the Hong Kong stock market. In addition the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has representatives in Guangzhou, who provide services for companies seeking HK stock exchange membership.
