This year's provincial GDP is expected to notch up 1.61 trillion Yuan, with a growth rate of 14.2 percent, fulfilling the target for the 10th five-year plan (2001-2005) one year ahead of schedule, reveals Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong province yesterday (Dec 29th) in Guangzhou.
Huang introduces the main content of the draft of government work report in the 8th session of the Provincial Standing Committee of the 9th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), saying in 2004, Guangdong province has witnessed a sound and fast economic and social development, and handful achievements have been made in maintaining a stable economy, implementing the macro-control policy, improving the quality and quantity of economic circulation, regional development and social projects.
He also says, in 2005, the government work will focus on economy reform, structural adjustment and furthering opening up. Redoubled effort will be distributed on developing heavy industry; maintaining a sustainable and recycle economic growth, making foreign-oriented economy higher-ended, strengthening domestic-oriented economy and building a harmonious society.
New type of industry, modern service industry, regional cooperation and rural economy will also be further developed next year.
