Officials from Guangzhou Customs Monday (July 12th) said the foreign trade of the Pan-Pearl River Delta region is growing quickly this year. The foreign trade volume of the nine provinces in the region reached nearly 195 billion US dollars in the first six months of the year, up 30% over the same period last year. The officials said the foreign trade volume of Guangdong reached nearly 160 billion US dollars in the first six months, ranking first among the nine provinces. According to statistics, Hong Kong has become the most important port in the region. The Pan-Pearl River Delta region's export volume through Hong Kong totaled 24 billion US dollars in the first six months of 2004, up 12% over last year.
