China will send 85 percent police who work indoors to work at grassroots this year to better serve the people and timely resolve social conflicts, according to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Tuesday.

In this way, police can react more quickly when crime cases occur, Liu Jinguo, vice minister of public security said at a meeting on comprehensive management of public security held here.

Since 2006, China has sent more than 80,000 police to work in urban communities and rural villages to maintain social order, help people solve variety of difficulties and keep close watch on symptom of crimes.

Liu said the logistics department of MPS will equip police with more advanced transportation and telecommunication facilities and improve their working conditions.
