A senior legislator from eastern Jiangsu Province has been dismissed from his government post on charges of corruption, according to China's top anti-graft watchdog.

Wang Wulong, 64, former deputy chief of the provincial legislature and a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC), has also been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said he accepted the bribes from real estate developers in return for favors in land deals.

He allegedly took 5.35 million yuan (668,000 U.S. dollars) and 200,000 Hong Kong dollars in bribes, according to a legislative source.

The commission also accused Wang of interfering with the work of the local CPC discipline inspection body.

Wang, also former party chief of Nanjing, provincial capital of Jiangsu, was dismissed from the NPC on Oct. 31.
