Illegal foreigners increase in China

As more and more foreigners come to China, the number of those who enter into, work and live in the country illegally has also increased. Crimes committed by foreigners have also grown.

Nowadays, an increasing number of foreigners have appeared in large cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, many of them having already integrated into Chinese people's ordinary life. The Sanlitun Bar Street in Beijing, the Hongqiao area in Shanghai and the Tianhe district in Guangzhou have already become places with a big concentration of foreigners. In Beijing and Guangzhou, there has even appeared the "Korean village" or the "Nigerian village".

Foreigners, who were often visitors in China, have gradually become a member of Chinese society. However, as more foreigners come in, what they bring with them is not always good. While many foreigners are frequently seen working in luxury business office buildings, some also appear in court or jail. This might be regarded as a new phenomenon in China's cities when they are in the process of becoming a world metropolis.

In fact, in large cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, foreign criminals are quite common. At present, these foreign criminals seem to be going beyond large cities to small, remote cities in China.

In Guangdong province, about 10,000 foreigners now live there illegally, and crimes committed by them have become a negative factor for local public security. For those who live illegally in Guangdong, most come from Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. In addition to Guangdong, the number of foreigners who enter, live and work illegally has also increased in cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Over the past decade, China has repatriated 63,000 such foreigners.
